Sebago Lake Retreat

Originally the site of a lakeside marina, we worked with a restricted building envelope for the house and were able to maintain a unique stone jetty. We balanced area and volume to create a new home that has the feel of a traditional lakefront cottage in Maine. Using sun orientation, views, and prevailing winds as guides, the plan unfolded naturally. By maximizing volume, we were able to get sunlight deep into the space at all times of the day. An exterior comprised of red cedar shingles, live edge Maine granite and traditional window patterns give the comfort of familiar materials while the open plan and large volumes embrace modern proportions. The combination of interior painted wood ceilings and expressed structure provide light and scale to the large open spaces.
