The opportunity to design selective alterations and renovations to such a landmark home was thrilling. The original home was built in 1908 by a prominent Maine family.  This was a time when electricity was not in the area. The house remains a monument to skilled craftsmen, ingenuity and hard work.

Interior renovations and alterations included a new kitchen and pantry, new bathrooms, improved flow through the house to accommodate large gatherings and a reinterpretation of the original roof deck overlooking the lake and the White Mountains. The exterior was completely rehabilitated starting with all existing ornamental work brought back to bare wood, resetting much of the slate roof, masonry repair and upgrades to the mechanical and electrical systems.

Summers in Maine are a special time to gather with friends and family.  A lake home should provide a relaxed connection between the accommodations on the inside with the splendor of its environment.  Working collaboratively with home owner and the builder, the result is a thoughtful integration of architectural and interior design.
